A Ukulele Decades in the Making

Citymusic has hardly seen a ukulele that captivated players so swiftly upon first strum. With the Martin 0 Tenor Ukulele, you’ll find a superb instrument that steps outside of the box and then some. Thanks to its sinker mahogany construction, and not least of all its rosewood fingerboard, this ukulele serves up rich voicings and appeal so vibrant you may never want to play a different ukulele again. We could go on for days about the historical context of the tonewood, the detailed handmade craftsmanship provided by Martin, and the exceptional tonal response, but honestly, this ukulele speaks for itself.

The sophisticated sounds of sinker mahogany

Thanks to Martin’s continued dedication to their craft, you have the chance to own a unique, unmatched ukulele with divine tones and glowing looks. Martin’s stash of sinker mahogany offers the ukulele world something special – in terms of sound, sinker mahogany will treat you to a wider tonal spectrum than traditional mahogany with emphasis on a deeper bass response. Fished out of a river in Belize, these logs spent anywhere from 150 to 400 years marinating in the bed of the river; effectively protected from imperfections while also receiving qualities impossible to recreate elsewhere. For instance, a closer inspection of the wood grain reveals miniscule black specks: that’s the sediment of the riverbed settling into the cells of the wood!

Martin’s tenor body shape

Whether it’s the stage, the studio, or soaking up sun at the beach, Martin’s ukuleles deliver those classic Hawaiian tones coveted by players of all stripes. The Martin 0 Tenor Ukulele’s tenor body, being the largest model offered, features the most volume and tonal projection. Since 1929, Martin’s tenor ukuleles have flown off their warehouse shelves, becoming instant favorites in homes all around the world. This comfortable body shape and size are similar to a travel-sized guitar, making this ukulele fantastic for a wide range of applications — Citymusic musicians have found they sound great in the studio! Top it off with an applied dovetail neck joint and hands-on, real human craftsmanship and you've got a ukulele with incredible build quality ready to traipse through life with you.

Handcrafted in Nazareth, PA

Martin has been making ukuleles by hand for more than a century. Since then, they've provided players with top-quality instruments with one significant benefit — attention to detail. At their heart, Martin is a relatively small, family-run business that makes each instrument as if it's their last. On the Martin 0 Tenor Ukulele, you'll discover small details that drastically change the instrument's sound and feel. You'll notice the rounded body edges for increased comfort, compensated TUSQ nut and saddle for improved intonation, expertly dressed frets for smooth playability, and much more. Today, nearly two centuries after opening shop, Martin continues to produce world-renowned handmade instruments right here in the USA.
